Year Founded: 2007 Description: Nearly everything sets Seagrass apart from other seafood restaurants in Santa Barbara. No salty dogs to greet you, no fishnets hanging from the ceiling, no Hawaiian shirts and definitely no mallets to crack your own dinner. And while we appreciate the fun atmosphere of that style of seafood restaurant, Seagrass was created to answer the frequent refrain of ‘where can we go for a fine dining seafood experience in Santa Barbara’? At Seagrass the ultimate goal is quality, with seasonal availability and freshness dictating how frequently we change the menu. Spiny Lobster, Sea Bass, Red Rock Crab and many other delicacies are pulled from the Santa Barbara Channel for your nightly enjoyment. All of our shellfish and fish are culled from the Pacific Ocean and we are mindful of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s ‘Seafood Watch’ program, searching out fish and shellfish from sustainable fisheries for our menu items. We buy all of our local fish from the Santa Barbara Fish Market and shop Farmers Market twice weekly, essentially combining those local resources and key ingredients to create our soups, salads, appetizers and mains. The wine list at Seagrass offers 100 selections from around the world, focusing on crisp, lean whites that pair well with first courses and a full page of Santa Barbara pinot noir. Seagrass is designed to be incredibly easy on the eyes and ears. Beautiful Seagrass wall covering, plantation shutters and white wainscoting are enjoyed in luxurious chairs while high vaulted ceilings and carpet underneath keep the noise level to a comfortable hum. Seagrass is perfectly situated, too, nestled right off of State Street in downtown Santa Barbara just 6 blocks up from the beach with ample parking just behind the restaurant.
