“Soil Sisters” by Keri Oberly
Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum, 926 Railroad Ave., Santa Paula CA

The photographic exhibition “Soil Sisters” by photographer and filmmaker Keri Oberly began as a project documenting women working in careers traditionally dominated by males. It quickly turned into a photography project on female farmers. With the large number of women in agriculture in Ventura County, there was no shortage of subjects. There are 18 portraits of women representing farms and ranches in Ojai, Camarillo, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks and Fillmore.

Assassins
Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, 3050 Los Angeles Avenue, Simi Valley CA

ASSASSINS is both Stephen Sondheim's dark exploration into the minds of the nine men and women who have attempted to assassinate the President of the United States, and his caustic analysis of the promise and failure of the American Dream. Given the current political climate, its themes are as relevant today as when the show was first performed. Tickets are $24 Adults, $20 Seniors 60 & Above and Students, $18 Children 12 & Under. Due to mature themes this production not recommended for children.    ($18 - $24)

The Night Alive
Santa Paula Theater Center, 125 South Seventh Street, Santa Paula CA

The Night Alive by Conor McPherson ..... Tommy's not a bad man, he's getting by. Renting a run-down room in his uncle Maurice's house, just about keeping his ex-wife and kids at arm's length and rolling from one get-rich-quick scheme to the other with his pal Doc. Then one day he comes to the aid of Aimee, who's not had it easy herself, struggling through life the only way she knows how. Their past won't let go easily. But together there's a glimmer of hope they could make something more of their lives. Something extraordinary. Perhaps. With inimitable warmth, style and craft, Conor McPherson's new play deftly mines the humanity to be found in the most unlikely of situations.   ($18 - $20)
