Art and Ecology in Japan

An exhibition by CSU Channel Islands (CI) students at the Palm Gallery in Camarillo will showcase the intersection of Japanese art and ecology and the value of study abroad. Running Tuesday, Sept. 2, through Wednesday, Sept. 24, “Art and Ecology in Japan: Satoyama and Echizen,” displays traditional ceramic and sustainable land-use techniques from the village of Echizen, Japan, as presented by the 15 CI students who traveled there with their instructors in May for an innovative course.

  The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley CA

Running through September 4, 2014, Baseball is a 12,000 square foot exhibition featuring over 700 artifacts, including some of the rarest, historic and iconic baseball memorabilia from the largest known private collector in the U.S. The exhibit displays extraordinary artifacts from Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson, the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers, and scores of other historically important players and organizations. Also featured will be rare artifacts related to Ronald Reagan and baseball from his days calling Chicago Cubs games, to signed balls and jerseys he received while President.

The Channel Islands Maritime Museum presents, “Semper Paratus: Always Prepared, Selections from the United States Coast Guard Art Program” This exhibit will feature artworks by outstanding artists from around the United States from August 4th through March 31, 2015. The images were commissioned to illustrate the day-to-day activities and services rendered by the men and women who are charged with the security of our coasts.
