    Jehovah's Witness Assembly
Oxnard Performing Arts & Convention Center, 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard CA
> DETAILS
> HIDE
Each year, Jehovah's Witnesses hold a "Special Assembly Day" and a two-day "Circuit Assembly", held in each circuit worldwide. Each circuit comprises several congregations in a geographical area. These are held either in Assembly Halls owned by Jehovah's Witnesses, or in rented facilities, such as public auditoriums. Once a year, Jehovah's Witnesses come together at larger assemblies called "District Conventions" which are usually three days long. These conventions consist primarily of Bible-based sermons, including demonstrations and experiences of their preaching work. They also often feature live, full-costume dramatic plays re-enacting biblical accounts, such as Moses and the Plagues of Egypt, and Lot in Sodom and Gomorrah.

Brighton Beach Memoirs
Conejo Players Theatre, 351 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks CA
> DETAILS
> HIDE
Eugene Jerome dreams of baseball and girls ... but in his everyday life, he has to cope with the mundane existence of family life in Brooklyn: a formidable mother, an overworked father, and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his widowed Aunt Blanche, and her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters, and you have a recipe for hilarity -- served up Neil Simon style! This bittersweet memoir evocatively captures the life of a struggling Jewish household where, as Jerome's father states, "If you didn't have a problem, you wouldn't be living here." The New York Daily News calls it the "funniest, richest, and consequently the most affecting of [Simon's] plays." ~ RATED PG-13   ($16 - $18)

More than three decades have passed since Los Lobos released their debut album, Just Another Band from East L.A. Since then they’ve repeatedly disproven that title—Los Lobos isn’t “just another” anything, but rather a band that has consistently evolved artistically while never losing sight of their humble roots.
