The International Waters Exhibit The International Waters Exhibit, 2010 features paintings by the members of the International Society of Marine Painters and will open August 3rd at the Ventura County Maritime Museum, 2731 S. Victoria Avenue at Oxnard Fisherman’s Wharf in Channel Islands Harbor. The exhibit will continue through January 30, 2010. See images of colorful boats and dramatic deepwater ships by artists from around the world, including: Robert Carter (Australia), Aleksey Dalshev and Sergey Koval (Ukraine), Takeshi Kutsuhara and Kenichi Takahashi (Japan). The exhibiting American artists include: Phil Cusumano, Paul Garnett , Mike Mazer and Ronald Tinney (Maine); Mary Demroske (Missouri) Christine Diehlmann (Maryland) E.A. Dyson (Colorado), Harold Johnson and Robert Parks (Washington) and California artists, Louis Stephen Gadal, Adam Koltz, Jon Olson, Alan Ryall and Sylvia Waters. The Ventura County Maritime Museum is open daily, 11-5 pm. We are still located in the Oxnard Fisherman’s Wharf area. Admission is free. Donations are appreciated. Highlighting a figure of both fact and fiction, this exhibition explores the different perceptions developed around the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island, as people have sought the elusive truth about her. Celebrated in legend and books such as the children's classic "Island of the Blue Dolphins," this San Nicolas islander was left alone in 1835 on one of the most remote of the Channel Islands, until she was found and brought in 1853 to Santa Barbara, where she died within weeks of her arrival.
