2/23 - Clear, sunny, gray whales and dolphins ... Two Condor Express excursions left the SEA Landing docks today, one at 9am and the other 12 noon. Totals for the day include: 3 gray whales and 800 long-beaked common dolphins. It was exceptionally clear and sunny on both trips. The wind was blowing pretty hard in the morning then switched direction (from NW to SW) before it died down a lot. Either way, it was an exceptional day for finding and watching cetaceans along the Santa Barbara coast.

In the early eighties, while sailing off remote Lombok Island in Indonesia, young California surfer Bill Heick and his friends stumbled across the perfect wave, a pristine barreling left reeling endlessly and empty over a shallow, live-coral reef. 2/21 - Two gray whales ... It was breezy again today in the Santa Barbara Channel. There was not much swell and Crystal clear skies. Total sightings for the day included two gray whales.
We left Santa Barbara Harbor at 9 AM. By 9:15AM I got lucky and had spotted the first of the two whales off Hendry’s Beach. We followed this juvenile for a while as it swam both inside as well as outside the kelp line. Before long, Tasha had located a second whale, another juvenile gray.
